Leo is an early stage finance specialist. Having started his career in banking, he moved into venture capital, where he worked for regional venture capital company London Ventures and subsequently a private investment company, Ferranti. Leo is also currently responsible for the Thames Valley Investment Network one of the three business angel networks operated by Oxford Innovation.
He has also played a key role in the completion of over 100 investment transactions in 40 or so businesses and worked with these businesses to define and shape their commercial strategy. The companies involved operated in a wide range of sectors, from book publishing, software development and food manufacturing to non-ferrous wire drawing, metal finishing and recording studios. He was charged with exploring ways and means of providing micro-finance in to ethnic minority and women led businesses and in job creating sectors such as manufacturing. Successful exits were achieved in about 25% of the businesses invested in.
With a devotion to the early stage sector, Leo has used his experience and knowledge of the full range of commerically available financing products to help and promote the development of an ever-changing portfolio of SME clients.
