Sustainability

Sustainability and preservation of the Environment is one of the main cross cutting themes in the Convergence programme for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.

The Coaching for High Growth and Starting a High Growth Business programmes, being delivered by Oxford Innovation are part of the Convergence programme and therefore must reflect the strong Environmental desire of the programme.

Oxford Innovation values environmental sustainability and commits to minimising and where possible eliminating, any detrimental effect on the environment resulting from the running of its operations.

We do everything possible to prevent pollution of the environment, minimise the use of energy, conserve natural resources and reduce waste. We proactively work with our suppliers, customers and other business partners to do likewise.

Objectives:

Oxford Innovation's objective is to understand and manage the environmental impact of its activities associated with the two programmes it is delivering in Cornwall and to continually review and wherever possible drive through improvements.

To achieve this we will:

  • Comply with, and where appropriate exceed, all relevant legislation, regulatory and good practice requirements
  • Operate an Environmental Management System appropriate to the programme requirements, and to our business based upon the current requirements of BS 8555 - ISO 14001
  • Engage with our staff so as to develop an environmentally aware workforce that is fully committed to our environment policy
  • Incorporate environmental considerations into our business decision making processes
  • Manage our procurement processes to promote environmentally and socially responsible business behaviours
  • Improve our environmental performance on a continuous basis so as to prevent pollution of the environment, minimise the use of energy, promote recycling, conserve natural resources and reduce waste to meet the principles of One Planet Living (OPL)
