“With the help of the expertise from the Oxford Innovation team we have been able to progress our business more quickly and effectively. They have really lifted the pressures of planning for growth and guided us through the challenges faced by companies taking products into specialised medical markets.”
Sullivan Cuff Software Ltd was referred to Oxford Innovation by Business Link and attended the “Wonderland” launch event of the Coaching for High Growth programme. At this event the company booked a 1-2-1 coaching taster session which started its relationship with Oxford Innovation.
The Directors and Shareholders of Sullivan Cuff Software Limited have ambitions to grow the company to a £2 million turnover with 25 staff over the next 5 years and need a clear strategy to achieve this.
Recent amendments to EU regulations, the Medical Device Directive, ISO13485:2003, have resulted in Sullivan Cuff’s INRstar being classified as a Medical Device. Failure to comply, or register the product as CE marked, threatened the Company’s core product as it would mean that without the necessary demonstration of the product’s compliance and validation with the regulations the product would have to be removed from the market place.
A further challenge was the need for new product development to allow INRstar to maintain its market leading position.
Coach, Michael Barritt, has worked with the MD and senior management team in the development of their business strategy to assist them to achieve their goals. Michael has provided the support and encouragement in the project planning, delivery, and the communication of the objectives to staff at all levels. This is ongoing.
In addition Oxford Innovation is providing specialist regulatory support to enable Sullivan Cuff to develop their quality system to support classification and CE marking of their software product as a Class I medical device. This specialist advisor is working with, and training, the company’s new UCP recruit who will be dedicated to the task of developing and maintaining the regulatory documentation to meet the requirements for CE marking the product.
The process of establishing practices and procedures to underpin the registration and self-certification (CE marking) of the INRstar product is now underway.
Currently Oxford Innovation is considering routes to get further training and support for staff as appropriate.
Michael continues to work closely with David on all aspects of the business to develop the company to the benefit of the Staff, Shareholders and the Cornish Economy.
“Oxford Innovation has provided mentoring and guidance to help us focus on creating a clear development strategy to meet our objectives. Michael has been invaluable in using his experience, and where necessary the specialist skills of his colleagues, to sharpen our plan and guide us in its implementation. Reviewing and challenging every aspect of our operation, he has maintained our momentum, and concentrated our minds on what is strategically important, when we might otherwise have become distracted by day-to-day events.”
