How Jarrang found out about the Coaching for High Growth programme

Stafford from Jarrang first found out about the Oxford Innovation programme following a recommendation from Nick Blandford of the Cornwall Development Company.

The Growth Challenge

The primary challenge was to restructure the business following a period of staff upheaval in order both to tackle immediate employee discontent and to create a framework for future growth.

How has Oxford Innovation’s Grow Cornwall Coaching Team Helped?

By using professional coaching methodology the client has been able, through questioning and self-reflection, to create a strategy that has seen employee numbers grow, new premises opened and turnover increase by 40% year on year. Stafford explains, "Initially, I was wary of working with Oxford Innovation because my previous experiences of working with business advisors were of questionable value to me and my business. However, I was encouraged by other’s positive comments and decided to give coaching a try. I found the programme highly beneficial to both the business and to me personally.” A key element that he really appreciated was that the Oxford Innovation approach didn’t tell him how to run his business. It was designed to help him apply his own knowledge and
benefit from the collective coaching experience within the Oxford Innovation team. He also commented that unlike other organisations he had worked with, his coach has practical experience of running businesses and has witnessed success and failure at first hand. This is something that Stafford feels is important and that he believes sets the Oxford Innovation team apart.

What is happening now?

New revenue streams are being created through innovative new product development alongside new sales strategies which will see turnoverncrease by a similar amount next year.
